As Paul Gallico, author of the book "The Snow Goose" took exception to the title of his book being used by a band he believed to be connected with the Camel cigarette company, he threatened legal action unless the title of the album was changed. Therefore the album appeared under the title "Music Inspired By The Snow Goose".

"Sneak Goose" is a seminal progressive rock concept album by the British band Camel, presented here in high-quality CD format by the classic label Deram. Based on Paul Gallico's novella "The Snow Goose", the album unfolds als an entirely instrumental journey that blends melodic guitar lines, atmospheric keyboards, lyrical flute passages and dynamic rhythm work into a cohesive narrative without words. Each track flows seamlessly into the next, creating a cinematic listening experience that invites the listener to imagine the story's landscapes and emotions purely through sound. The CD edition offers clear, detailed audio that highlights the band's refined interplay and the orchestral subtleties of the arrangements, making it ideal for attentive listening on a hi-fi system as well as for rediscovering the album on modern players. For fans of classic prog as well as discerning newcomers, this release is a timeless example of how rock music can tell complex stories with purely instrumental means.
Camel, formed in the early 1970s, are among the most respected bands of the progressive rock era. Known for their melodic guitar work, rich keyboard textures and long, carefully structured compositions, they built a reputation for combining technical finesse with emotional depth. With albums such as "Mirage" and "The Snow Goose", they secured a firm place in the canon of progressive rock and inspired generations of musicians with their blend of rock, jazz and classical influences. Their concerts and live recordings are still valued for their musical precision and the band's ability to recreate their elaborate studio productions on stage.
The CD is released by Deram, a renowned British label founded in the 1960s and associated with many important releases in rock and pop history. Deram became known for carefully produced albums that often experimented with new recording techniques and artistic concepts. Releases on this label are frequently seen as quality benchmarks in terms of sound and presentation, and "Snow Goose" fits seamlessly into this tradition. With its combination of artistic ambition and meticulous production, this CD edition underlines Deram's role as a label that has historically given progressive and innovative artists a platform. | | | Producer: |
