The band's initial lineup consisted of lead guitarist Juan "Carlos" Garcia, vocalist Phil Flores, bassist Mel Sanchez, guitarist Dan Flores, and drummer Rob Alaniz. The band gained popularity in the late 1980s and early 1990s with their thrash metal sound and anti-establishment attitude. The band's debut album, Annihilation of Civilization, released in 1989, was a defining moment in the thrash metal movement. The album featured blistering guitar solos, fast-paced drumming, and aggressive vocals, and songs like "The Underworld" and "B.O.H.I.C.A." quickly became fan favorites.
