GUNNA

Gunna, whose real name is Sergio Giavanni Kitchens, is a celebrated rapper and singer hailing from College Park, Georgia. Born on June 14, 1993, Gunna grew up being exposed to music all around him, as his mother was a hardcore music lover, and he himself began dabbling in music by the age of 15. Now, the twenty-something artist has amassed a massive following, thanks to his distinctive sound and laid-back style, setting him apart from other contemporary rappers. Gunna's musical roots can be traced back to his influences, which include singers such as Usher, Destiny's Child and Lil Wayne, among others. Moreover, being from the South, he cites Southern rappers such as OutKast, T.I., and Young Jeezy as some of his inspirations. Combining his, extensive knowledge and passion for music, Gunna began to develop his craft, creating sounds that most rappers couldn't fathom. The rapper initially gained attention with his collaborations with fellow rapper and close friend, Young Thug. He was featured in Young Thug's album, Jeffery, and then their joint album, Drip Harder, in late 2018, which received widespread commercial success, thanks to the hit single, "Drip Too Hard," earning Gunna his first platinum record. The song also helped Gunna's popularity skyrocket, making him one of the go-to featured artists in the rap scene. Gunna's music is characterized by soul-stirring beats with heartfelt verses addressing themes of love, relationships, money, and perseverance. His flows are smooth and melodic, creating the perfect backdrop for his braggadocious lyrics, scattered with clever wordplay and metaphors. Gunna has a unique talent for creating tracks that can fill up a room with his energy and connect with his listeners on a personal level. In 2019, Gunna released his solo album, Drip or Drown 2, which cemented his place in the mainstream rap scene. The album debuted at number 3 on the Billboard 200 chart, spawning hits such as "Speed it Up," "Outstanding," and "One Call." Gunna continued to build his fanbase with his superb collaborations, working with some of the biggest names in music, such as Drake, Travis Scott, Lil Baby, Young Thug, and Lil Wayne. Gunna has since released two more albums, WUNNA and Drip Season 3, respectively. WUNNA became his first number one on the charts and has since certified Platinum. The album showcased his maturation as an artist, with tracks that were more introspective, dealing with his struggles and growth in the music industry. In conclusion, Gunna is one of the most talented and exciting rap artists in the music industry, known for his smooth flows, catchy hooks, and distinct melodic style. His music connects with listeners on a personal level and demonstrates his passion for music, blending different styles and genres to create songs that leave an impact. We can undoubtedly expect a lot more from Gunna, and he continues to rise to the top of the rap game.
