 | | Description: | 2014 album from the British Folk Rock band. Mary Jane hail from Southampton. The summer of 1995 saw both the release of the debut EP on 7" and the recording of the first album Hazy Days. Having secured deals in Germany the band spent their first 10 years better known on the European market rather than the UK. November 2010 and Talking Elephant released Eve and later a collection of their past music in the form of Brigits Daughter. Since then they have played more and more at festivals across the UK and Europe and are set for many festivals in 2014 playing music from Solstice. Lead singer Jo Quinn evokes memories of Annie Haslam of Renaissance as her soprano soars high on rocking original songs that often have a slightly medieval feel: Dirty Linen Magazine."Solstice" is a CD release by the artist Mary Jane, issued by the independent label Talking Elephant. Based on the available information, it can be described as a carefully curated studio album that places Mary Jane's expressive vocal work and songcraft at the centre. The atmosphere suggested by the title "Solstice" evokes themes of turning points, light and darkness, introspection and renewal. Listeners can expect a song collection that moves between quieter, reflective moments and more dynamic, full-band arrangements, with an emphasis on strong melodies and organic instrumentation. Mary Jane is presented here as a dedicated recording artist whose focus lies on expressive songs and a coherent album flow rather than on single hits. Her style, as reflected on this CD, leans towards thoughtfully arranged tracks that invite repeated listening, appealing to fans of classic, song-oriented music with a timeless feel. Although specific chart achievements or awards are not documented, "Solstice" positions her as an artist with a clear musical vision and a consistent, album-oriented approach. Talking Elephant, the manufacturer behind this release, is known as a specialist independent label with a strong focus on carefully selected catalogue and new productions, often from the broader spectrum of rock, folk and related genres. Their releases are typically characterised by attentive curation, respectful presentation and a dedication to physical formats such as CDs. With "Solstice", Talking Elephant continues this philosophy by offering a well-produced disc aimed at listeners who still value the album as a complete work. The label's reputation for quality packaging, solid sound and a collector-friendly approach makes this edition of "Solstice" particularly attractive for fans who appreciate both the musical and the physical aspects of a release. | | | No. of tracks: |
