 | | Description: | Ceramic by Milk Lines, released 3 December 2015.
This version of Ceramic comes as a 1xCD. - 2015 debut album. The husband-and-wife songwriting talents of Jeffrey Clarke (Demon's Claws, Hellshovel) and Emily Frances give one the feeling that Milk Lines have been commissioned by time itself to build a dream-like bridge, so that reality might have the chance at a glimpse... Their wide range of influences and unique brand of music are organic, primitive yet thoughtful. The lo-fi, trippy and sometimes country-laced tunes display a fresh and original sound. After having played a few select events in the Montreal-Toronto area, Milk Lines were noticed by Toronto's fucked up and asked to record their first and only release to date, the Crystal Crown single. The band has since been tapped by The King Khan & BBQ Show to support them on two of their US tours."Ceramic" is a CD release by Milk Lines on the renowned independent label In The Red, presenting a raw, atmospheric blend of lo-fi rock, garage influences and hazy, psychedelic undertones. With a sound that feels both intimate and slightly disoriented, the album leans on minimalist arrangements, fuzzy guitars and understated vocals to create a deeply textured listening experience. The tracks unfold in an organic way, often evoking a nocturnal road-trip mood: dusty, hypnotic and quietly intense rather than loud or polished. Fans of underground rock and outsider pop aesthetics will appreciate the way "Ceramic" balances fragility and grit, offering songs that feel personal yet timeless. Instead of chasing radio hooks, this CD focuses on mood, nuance and a strong DIY character that rewards repeated listening.
Milk Lines operate in the borderlands between garage rock, psych-folk and lo-fi indie, favoring an unvarnished, intimate sound that highlights atmosphere over technical perfection. Their music often feels like a lost tape discovered in an attic - warm, slightly warped and full of character. Within the underground scene, they are appreciated for their idiosyncratic songwriting and the cohesive worlds their albums create, rather than for chart placements or mainstream spotlights. "Ceramic" fits seamlessly into this ethos, showcasing a band that is more interested in authenticity and a distinctive sonic identity than in commercial trends.
The CD format of "Ceramic" underlines the album's tangible, analog spirit. It offers clear, dynamic sound while preserving the rough edges and tape-like warmth that suit Milk Lines' approach so well. Packaged for collectors and dedicated listeners, this edition is ideal for anyone who prefers to experience albums as complete narratives, from the opening track to the final fade-out.
In The Red is a long-standing independent record label known for its commitment to raw, uncompromising rock, garage and punk-adjacent sounds. Over the years, the label has built a strong reputation for discovering and supporting bands that value authenticity, intensity and individuality. Releases on In The Red are often regarded as quality seals within the underground and garage-rock community, thanks to a catalog that favors character and attitude over commercial gloss. With "Ceramic," In The Red once again underlines its role as a home for distinctive, left-of-center artists, offering a platform where music can remain adventurous, idiosyncratic and true to its roots. | | | No. of tracks: |
