Brand New Album From The Post-punk Trailblazers |
 | | Description: | Dark Light by Section 25, released 28 February 2013, includes the following tracks: "Coda", "Light In A Dark Hour", "Last Line Of Defense", "Urgency" and more.
This version of Dark Light comes as a 1xCD. - BRAND NEW ALBUM FROM THE POST-PUNK TRAILBLAZERSFactory Benelux presents Dark Light, the brand new album by post-punk trailblazers Section 25, Factory workers since 1979. Recorded in 2012, Dark Light is their first collection of new material since the tragic loss of founder Larry Cassidy in 2010, and marks a return to the smooth electro and synth-pop textures first explored on their seminal 1984 album from the Hip. These echoes are amplified by the presence of co-vocalists Beth and Jo Cassidy, and a sublime cover image by iconic artist/designer Peter Saville. Much of Dark Light was produced in collaboration with remixer Derek Miller (aka Outernationale), and includes new versions of recent single tracks Colour Movement Sex & Violence and Inner Drive. Other stand-out cuts include future pop classic My Outrage, which will also be made available as a limited edition 7" single (7 FBN 62) to mark World Record Store Day in April 2013. There are also two hidden tracks.Music adapted from the Original Motion Picture, The Waiting Room. Movie directed by Pete Nicks."Dark Light" is an atmospheric CD release by the influential post-punk and electronic band Section 25, issued by the respected independent label Factory Benelux. The album presents a mature, late-period phase of the group, in which icy post-punk roots merge with melodic electronics, subtle dance rhythms and introspective lyrics. Across its tracks, "Dark Light" oscillates between shadowy, melancholic soundscapes and moments of brightness, using layered synths, textured guitars and understated vocals to create a coherent, nocturnal listening experience that remains accessible and emotive.
Musically, the CD is characterized by hypnotic bass lines, minimalist drum programming and warm analogue synth textures that echo the band's Factory Records heritage while sounding contemporary and refined. The songs often build slowly, adding melodic hooks and atmospheric details that reward repeated listens. "Dark Light" works both as a focused home-listening album and as a soundtrack for late-night drives, inviting the listener into a world of reflective, subtly romantic mood. Thoughtful production ensures a clear, spacious sound in which every instrument and electronic detail can breathe.
Section 25, originally part of the legendary Factory scene, are known for their evolution from stark, guitar-driven post-punk towards forward-looking electronic music. Over the years they have earned cult status, particularly for their album "From the Hip", whose track "Looking from a Hilltop" became a key reference in early electronic and dance music circles. Their catalogue has been rediscovered by successive generations of fans interested in the roots of techno, house and synth-pop, securing the band a lasting place in the history of alternative music. "Dark Light" reflects this legacy while demonstrating the band's continued creativity and emotional depth.
The CD is released by Factory Benelux, a label that maintains and extends the aesthetic and spirit of the original Factory tradition. Specializing in carefully curated reissues, archival projects and new releases from classic post-punk and indie artists, Factory Benelux is known for tasteful presentation, attention to audio quality and historically aware packaging. Collectors and long-time fans value the label for preserving important catalogues and making them available in thoughtfully produced editions. With "Dark Light", Factory Benelux once again underlines its role as a guardian of influential, artistically ambitious music beyond the mainstream. | | | Actors: |
