Description:Boogaloo Down Broadway was only the first of the fantastic Johnny C's chart records, to be followed by "Got What You Need" and "Hitch It to the Horse." Johnny Corley's fateful meeting with producer/songwriter Jesse James resulted in five singles and a well-received album. Their singles included such hard-to-find recordings as "Cool Broadway" and "Some Kind of Wonderful." Years later and on his own, using prominent Philadelphia music creators involved with the rise of the Philly Sound, Johnny C made the classic "Waitin' for the Rain" and "Don't Depend on Me" as well as the rare "I'm a Man" and "Just Say the Word."
"Phil-la Of Soul Singles Collection 1967-1973" on CD by Johnny C Fantastic is a carefully curated journey through a defining era of soul music. Focusing on singles originally released on the Phil-la of Soul imprint between 1967 and 1973, this collection captures the raw emotion, deep grooves and sophisticated arrangements that characterized late-60s and early-70s soul. Listeners can expect a blend of driving, danceable tracks and slow-burning ballads, unified by warm analog production and powerful vocal performances. The compilation format makes it ideal both for long-time collectors and for newcomers who want a concentrated overview of this stylistic phase. Johnny C Fantastic is presented here as the key artist, with a vocal style that bridges gritty, gospel-rooted intensity with a smoother, radio-friendly soul sound, embodying the transition from classic soul to early '70s crossover appeal. His work on this collection highlights strong songcraft, memorable hooks and emotionally resonant storytelling. The CD format offers a clean, remastered listening experience while preserving the vintage character of the original singles, and the sequencing is designed to tell a coherent musical story from track to track. The manufacturer Jami is positioned as a specialist in reissuing and preserving historical recordings, with attention to audio quality and presentation so that important soul material from this period remains accessible to contemporary audiences. With this release, Jami underlines its ambition to treat heritage music with care--through thoughtful compilation concepts, durable packaging and a focus on sound fidelity that respects the spirit of the original masters.
