 | | Description: | Estara by Teebs, released 3 April 2014, includes the following tracks: "Holiday", "SOTM", "NY Pt. 1", "Piano Months" and more.
This version of Estara comes as a 1xCD. - Teeb's first full-length, 2010's ARDOUR, was an effort that came together in the midst of personal turmoil and the death of his father. In contrast, ESTARA was created during a period of relative calm; more importantly, the LP encapsulates a time when Teebs - who continues to work steadily as both a producer and a painter - has been making art entirely on his own terms. That freedom has not only strengthened his creative voice, but has also enabled him to craft some of the finest work of his career. ESTARA contains plenty of the breezy melodies, rustling rhythms, gauzy atmospherics, and loose ties to hip-hop that have always been present in Teebs' music, but the LP also finds those elements coming together in a bolder, more cohesive fashion than ever before."Estara" is a CD by producer and visual artist Teebs, released on the forward-thinking label Brainfeeder. The album unfolds as a deeply atmospheric journey through textured electronic landscapes, warm beats and fragile melodies. Layers of crackling samples, gentle synthesizers and organic percussion create a dreamlike, intimate mood that works equally well for focused listening and as a contemplative backdrop. Each track feels like a small sonic collage, carefully assembled to evoke nostalgia, calm and quiet curiosity, without ever becoming intrusive or predictable.
Stylistically, "Estara" sits at the intersection of instrumental hip-hop, ambient and experimental electronica. The rhythms are often unhurried and understated, leaving space for shimmering details, subtle vinyl hiss and delicate harmonic shifts. Rather than relying on big drops or obvious hooks, Teebs builds emotional depth through repetition, texture and tone, making this CD ideal for late-night sessions, creative work or reflective moments. The flow from track to track is seamless, giving the impression of a continuous, cohesive work rather than a collection of singles.
Teebs is known for his gentle, painterly approach to sound design, which mirrors his background as a visual artist. Part of the influential Los Angeles beat scene, he gained attention with earlier releases on Brainfeeder and quickly became recognized for his distinctive, soft-focus aesthetic. His music has resonated with listeners who look for emotional, nuanced instrumental music beyond conventional genres, and he is frequently mentioned as a key figure in the evolution of the modern beat movement.
Brainfeeder, founded by pioneering producer Flying Lotus, has built a reputation as one of the most innovative labels in contemporary electronic and experimental music. Based in Los Angeles, the label focuses on artists who push boundaries between hip-hop, jazz, electronica and avant-garde sounds. Brainfeeder's roster has helped shape the global perception of the LA beat scene, supporting forward-thinking producers, musicians and composers whose work often defies easy categorization. With "Estara," the label once again underlines its commitment to releasing adventurous, emotionally rich music that rewards repeated listening. | | | No. of tracks: |
