Wenig später versammeln sich die ersten Ostberliner vor dem Grenzübergang Bornholmer Straße und es beginnen dramatische Stunden. Denn während Harald mit seinen Kollegen vergeblich auf Anweisungen seiner Vorgesetzten wartet, droht die Lage zu eskalieren: Immer mehr Menschen versammeln sich vor dem Grenzübergang und fordern ihre Ausreise. Unter enormem Druck, entscheidet sich Oberstleutnants Harald Schäfer schlussendlich für die Öffnung der Grenze und wird damit zum Helden der Geschichte! "Bornholmer Straße" is an acclaimed German TV film that sensitively and powerfully dramatizes the historic evening of November 9, 1989, when the Berlin Wall unexpectedly opened. Set at the border crossing Bornholmer Straße, the film follows an East German border guard and his comrades through the confusion, fear, and absurdity of a regime in its final hours.
