 | | Description: | J.J. Cale never recorded a full album until Eric Clapton scored a huge hit with Cale's "After Midnight". Cale released his debut album Naturally in 1972, not knowing this would be the beginning of the so-called Tulsa-sound. A lazy, rolling Boogie that contradicted all the commercial styles of Boogie, Blues, and Country-Rock that was popular at the time. The albumincludes "Call Me The Breeze" & "After Midnight". - This version is distinguishable by the manufacturing credit "Made in France by Universal M & L" on the outer ring of the disc matrix.

? 1972 Phonogram International B.V. The Netherlands."Naturally" is the classic debut album by JJ Cale, here presented as an audio CD, and regarded as one of the foundational works of laid-back American roots music. With its relaxed blend of blues, country, swamp rock and early Americana, the album established Cale's unmistakable understated groove: sparse arrangements, warm guitars, soft vocals and a subtly swinging rhythm section. The songs unfold unhurriedly, creating an intimate, almost nocturnal atmosphere that makes the CD ideal for focused listening as well as for a relaxed background soundtrack. Several tracks from "Naturally" went on to achieve cult status and have been covered by major artists, which underlines the enduring impact of this recording.
The CD edition offers a coherent, carefully sequenced listening experience that reflects the original album flow as it was conceived in the early 1970s. Audiophiles and collectors will appreciate the organic sound image, where every instrument has room to breathe and the nuances of Cale's playing come to the fore. Whether you are rediscovering this milestone or exploring JJ Cale's music for the first time, "Naturally" on CD is a timeless addition to any serious music collection, bridging the gap between classic rock, blues and singer-songwriter traditions.
JJ Cale (John Weldon Cale) became a key figure of the so-called Tulsa Sound, influencing generations of musicians with his minimalist approach and relaxed feel. Rather than seeking the spotlight, he let the songs speak for themselves - yet his work resonated strongly with other artists: pieces he wrote became hits for international stars, helping to cement his reputation as a songwriter's songwriter. Over the years, Cale built a loyal following and a highly respected catalogue, with "Naturally" often cited as a central reference point in his discography.
The CD is released under the Mercury label, one of the historically important brands in the recording industry. Mercury has long been associated with high-quality productions across a broad range of genres, from rock and pop to jazz and beyond. The company's catalogue includes numerous influential albums and artists, and its reputation rests on solid studio work, reliable sound quality and careful presentation of its releases. With "Naturally", Mercury continues this tradition by making a seminal roots-rock album available in a durable, collector-friendly CD format. | | | No. of tracks: |
