Only available on vinyl in the US. For his highly anticipated 1971 solo debut, David Crosby recorded a unique, eclectic, and willfully expansive album. The cream of early-70s California rock is assembled here, withthe various celebrities joining together in an organic, collective approach that's embodied in the opener, the free-spirited jam of "Music Is Love". Throughout the record, Crosby moves from the sauntering Western shuffle of "Cowboy Movie" to the wondrously spiritual harmonies of "Tamalpais High (AtAbout 3)" and, eventually, the hallowed chants of "I'd Swear There Was Somebody Here". Musically the album has an exploratory, almost jazzy feel, with it's bright production cloaking the listener in acoustic strains and lush, layered harmonies. These qualities perfectly evoke the relaxed, hazy California lifestyle of the time. For all it's dreaminess though, IF I COULD ONLY REMEMBER MY NAME rarely missteps, and thehaunting melancholy of songs like "Laughing" and "Orleans" give the record a depth and durability that surpasses other recordings of the time. The result is an excellent, highly underrated album.

"If I Could Only Remember My Name" is the visionary solo debut album by David Crosby, here presented in the classic CD format and manufactured by Atlantic. Originally released in 1971, the recording captures Crosby at a creative peak, blending folk, rock and subtle psychedelic elements into a deeply atmospheric and intimate soundscape. Wide, echoing harmonies, shimmering guitars and contemplative lyrics create a timeless listening experience that feels both personal and expansive, inviting the listener into a warm, almost dreamlike sonic universe. The album is also known for its rich, organic production and its sense of spontaneity, with songs that move fluidly between structured songwriting and free, improvisational passages. As a CD edition, this release offers clear, detailed sound that highlights the delicate vocal arrangements and nuanced instrumental textures that have made the record a cult classic among audiophiles and fans of 1970s rock alike.

David Crosby, co-founder of The Byrds and Crosby, Stills & Nash (later Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young), is one of the defining voices of the classic rock era. With The Byrds he helped shape the sound of folk rock, and with Crosby, Stills & Nash he became known worldwide for intricate vocal harmonies and socially conscious songwriting. His work with these groups earned multiple hit singles and influential albums that remain reference points in popular music history. Crosby's distinctive voice, open guitar tunings and reflective, often spiritual lyrics have influenced generations of songwriters and performers. This solo album showcases a more personal, introspective side of his artistry, expanding the palette he developed with his bands and confirming his status as a singular, innovative songwriter.
