| Description: | Oktober 1989, kurz vor der Maueröffnung und dem Ende der DDR: während immer mehr Bürger auf die StraÃ?e gehen, sitzt die Angst vor der Macht des Systems noch tief. So auch bei Staatsschauspieler OTTO WOLF, der in einer Persiflage sich zunächst weigert ERICH HONECKER zu spielen, obwohl er dies so perfekt kann, dass er später mit Honecker verwechselt wird. Seine Tochter KASSANDRA plant mit einem Westpass in die BRD zu flüchten, doch in einem Streit zerreiÃ?t Otto das Dokument. Wütend schlieÃ?t sich Kassandra dem Dissidenten AUGUST an, der in Leipzig die nächste groÃ?e Montagsdemonstration filmen will. Er verspricht ihr einen neuen gefälschten Pass, wenn sie die Aufnahmen in den Westen schmuggelt. Otto und das Ensemble erfahren, dass in Leipzig eine blutige Niederschlagung des Aufstandes nach chinesischem Vorbild geplant ist. Otto hat fortan nicht nur ein schlechtes Gewissen, sondern ist in gröÃ?ter Sorge um seine Tochter. Also erklärt er sich bereit, den Honecker zu spielen und sich sogar in das ZK einzuschleichen. Dort erfährt er Unglaubliches, nämliches dass Egon Krenz und Mielke seine Absetzung planen. Otto alias Honecker überrascht sie, doch das Auftauchen Margot Honeckers machen es für Otto äuÃ?erst schwer, die nötigen zwei Anrufe in Leipzig als Fake-Honecker zu machen, um den Vormarsch der Panzer zu stoppen. Tatsächlich geraten Kassandra und August dort in gröÃ?te Gefahr. SchlieÃ?lich gelingt es Otto aber den Kommandierenden in Leipzig zu täuschen und die Menschen zu retten."Vorwärts immer!" is a political comedy set in East Germany in 1989 that blends sharp wit with heartfelt moments against the backdrop of the final days of the GDR. The film follows Otto Wolf (played by Jörg Schüttauf), a renowned theatre actor famous for impersonating the East German leader Erich Honecker on stage. When his daughter Anne (Josefine Preuß) joins a protest in Leipzig and risks serious danger, Otto decides to leave the stage and step into reality: disguised as Honecker, he infiltrates the political machinery to try to stop a violent crackdown on the demonstrators. Misunderstandings, risky improvisations and absurd encounters with functionaries drive the story, while the film keeps a warm perspective on people caught in a collapsing system.
