Vinyl LP pressing. 2018 release, the fourth album from country music singer/songwriter Kacey Musgraves. Kacey describes this album as having a "trippy" twist, citing the Bee Gees, Sade, and Neil Young as influences. In addition to reuniting with previous collaborators such as Luke Laird, Shane McAnally, and Natalie Hemby, Musgraves sought out pals Ian Fitchuk and the Silver Seas' Daniel Tashian as her primary co-producers and co-writers. Musgraves wrote and recorded most of the songs from the album throughout 2017; about the writing process she said: "I have a lot more love songs this time around, and I've never been one to write a love song and really feel it,". She continued: "That probably sounds like the most depressing thing ever. [But] I'm coming off getting married and being in this golden hour of my personal life, where all these things are finally coming to fruition. I found myself inspired to write about this person and all these things he brought out in me that weren't there before".
"Golden Hour (Vinyl)" is the acclaimed LP by American singer-songwriter Kacey Musgraves, released on MCA Records and widely regarded as one of the defining country-pop albums of the 2010s. Across this carefully sequenced vinyl edition, Musgraves blends classic country storytelling with dreamy pop, soft disco touches and intimate ballads, creating a warm, shimmering sound that lives up to the album's title. Rich harmonies, pedal steel flourishes and atmospheric synths frame her clear, understated voice, while the analog warmth of the LP pressing emphasizes the depth of the arrangements and the subtle dynamics of the production. Lyrically, "Golden Hour" moves between love, self-discovery, nostalgia and quiet resilience, capturing both the euphoria of new beginnings and the calm after emotional storms, making it an album designed for start-to-finish listening.
Kacey Musgraves has become one of modern country music's most distinctive voices, known for her sharp, honest lyrics and genre-crossing sound. She gained broad recognition with her early albums, which established her reputation as a songwriter unafraid to address unconventional themes with wit and empathy, and "Golden Hour" is often cited as her creative breakthrough that expanded her audience far beyond traditional country circles. Her work has been honored with major industry awards and year-end critics' lists, underscoring her influence as an artist who bridges country, pop and singer-songwriter traditions. On this LP, her songwriting is at its most personal and cinematic, combining radio-friendly melodies with a cohesive, almost conceptual atmosphere that rewards repeated plays.
