 | | Description: | Moon - The Area Of Influence by Jeff Mills, released 19 July 2019.
This version of Moon - The Area Of Influence comes as a 1xCD. - .. INFLUENCECommemorating the 50th anniversary of the Moon landing (July 20, 2019), Axis Records present the release of the album by Jeff Mills on his interpretations of Earth's Moon, The Area Of Influence. Jeff Mills on the release:"There are influences of the Moon we can detect, measure and document as scientific facts. If these are perceived as rational explanations, then it should raise questions about the possibility of other unseen mental and metaphysical connections humans have, not just with the Moon but with all other celestial bodies in and outside this Solar System. On the flipside, as we recognize that our Sun gives us light and a lifespan, what does an even greater force in the Cosmos, perhaps the darkness (or absence of anything) affects us. If we look at the Moon as a component in a vast configuration of integral connected parts, then an intuitive sense might lead us to a wider understanding about how deeply our relationship lies. This album and the imagination that helped to produce it should be considered as a proposition with open-endedness and no foreseeable conclusion. It is a chemistry of facts and feelings based on then, now and forever."Released as a Digipak."Moon - The Area Of Influence" on CD is a conceptual electronic music work by Jeff Mills that explores humanity's longstanding fascination with the moon through immersive, futuristic soundscapes. Released on the legendary Axis label, this album continues Mills' tradition of combining Detroit techno roots with cinematic, space-themed composition. Expect hypnotic rhythms, deep atmospheres and meticulous sound design that evoke orbital journeys, lunar landscapes and the psychological pull of Earth's satellite. Each track feels like a chapter in a larger narrative, shifting between tense, pulsating sequences and more expansive, ambient passages. This makes the CD suitable both for focused listening on headphones and as a powerful, thought-through set piece for adventurous DJ sets. The production is precise and high-fidelity, reflecting Mills' obsession with detail and technological refinement.
Axis, the manufacturer and label behind this release, is one of the most respected imprints in techno. Founded and driven by a strong aesthetic of futurism, minimalism and conceptual depth, Axis has long been synonymous with uncompromising quality. The label stands for a clear sonic identity: stripped-down, rhythmically sophisticated, often cosmic music that looks forward rather than back. Over the years, Axis has become an important platform for boundary-pushing electronic works, with carefully curated releases and high production standards in both audio and packaging.
Jeff Mills is a pioneering figure of techno and one of the key architects of the Detroit sound. Known for his precision as a DJ and his visionary approach as a producer, he has shaped electronic music far beyond the club context. Mills first gained wider recognition in the early 1990s and has since built a catalog of influential releases, including seminal albums and numerous EPs that helped define minimal and sci-fi-inspired techno. His live performances, often using multiple decks and drum machines, have earned him a reputation as one of the most technically skilled and forward-thinking artists in the genre. Beyond the dance floor, Mills has composed music for art installations, film projects and orchestral collaborations, reinforcing his status as a multidisciplinary electronic composer whose work consistently reaches into new territories. | | | Manufacturer No.: |
