| Description: | Multi-disciplinary artist Hyd (née Hayden Dunham) announces their debut full length album CLEARING, out November 11 via PC Music. The album follows their 2021 self-titled EP, which earned critical praise from The New York Times, NPR, Pitchfork, PAPER, Nylon, Stereogum and more. Alongside the announcement, Hyd has released new single ??So Clear,? a song that faces total loss and extracts seeds from ashes to plant one??s own roots. Hyd co-wrote the song with SOPHIE and EASYFUN who produced it also. Of the track, Hyd says ??The feeling of rejection opened up my own questions about choosing Earth, choosing to make something new here, to be rooted when turbulent winds bend the stems. Transmuting a feeling of loss into something fortifying - ripples in the water that become still. ??So Clear? emerges from a place of total loss, full collision, and the freedom that comes in surrender.? Although the 2021 EP marked their first solo music and first musical release since QT, Hyd is a world-renowned sculptor and conceptual artist whose large-scale work has focused on reinventing systems and the transformation of elements. In the 9 months since the EP's release, they've performed concerts on volcanoes, in oil fields and in caves, and also manifested transformational moments into visual live works of art on traditional stages like Pitchfork Music Fest in Chicago and London, and Pop Kultur Festival in Berlin. These elements find their way into their music as well. CLEARING was largely written on the volcanic island of Lanzarote in Spain, lending a visceral, expansive quality to the often-prophetic lyrics with themes of rebirth through fire and ash. CLEARING was written and recorded with collaborators including SOPHIE, A. G. Cook, Caroline Polachek, EASYFUN and ?. On the LP, Hyd explores untouched levels of vulnerability - dismantling interior structures and letting the frame fracture to spur a cyclical, sonic, visual and sensory evolution. As materials moult into new states of being, so does Hyd. Hyd??s music breaks free of ruptured systems and expands beyond what is physically present or possible, and in doing so, invites the listener to join them on a journey of inward investigation and a reckoning of their own. For this, Hyd is a catalyst, and CLEARING is the strike of the match that beckons the flame. - Four panel card sleeve.
