"Delusion" is a CD reissue of the rare 1970s album by the Swiss progressive rock band MCCHURCH SOUNDROOM, released by the label Pilz / Cargo. Musically, the album moves in the realm of dark, experimental prog rock with clear psychedelic influences: long, organically evolving tracks, dynamic tempo changes, and an atmosphere that oscillates between mystical, melancholic and aggressive. Listeners can expect extended instrumental passages featuring expressive guitar work, prominent organ and flute, as well as a rhythm section that shifts effortlessly between heavy, almost proto-metal riffs and more fragile, atmospheric parts. The compositions are multi-layered and demand attentive listening, rewarding it with a dense, immersive sound world that will particularly appeal to fans of early 70s European prog and Krautrock.
MCCHURCH SOUNDROOM were active only briefly, but have since gained a cult following among collectors of obscure progressive rock. Their work is regarded as a hidden gem of the era, valued for its unconventional song structures and its dark, almost cinematic mood. Although they did not achieve major commercial success at the time, "Delusion" has become a sought-after album in collector circles and is often mentioned in lists of underrated prog classics from continental Europe.
The CD format offers the opportunity to experience this long out-of-print material in good sound quality without the limitations and scarcity of the original vinyl pressings. Depending on the edition, listeners may also benefit from remastered audio and possibly expanded booklets with background information, contemporary artwork and liner notes that place the album in its historical context.
Pilz was an influential label in the early 1970s, closely associated with the German underground and Krautrock scene, known for daring releases that often crossed boundaries between psychedelic rock, folk and experimental music. In cooperation with Cargo, a company well-established in distribution and reissues of alternative and classic catalogues, Pilz / Cargo ensures that historically important but hard-to-find recordings remain accessible. This release of "Delusion" fits perfectly into that philosophy: preserving a piece of prog and Krautrock history and making it available to a new generation of listeners who appreciate adventurous, genre-defying music.
