Description:Samory I's solo debut album, ''Strength' on Overstand Entertainment/Easy Star Records is helmed by prolific reggae producer Winta James (Protoje, Chronixx, Damian Marley) and features guest appearances by Jamaican reggae artists Lila Ike, Jesse Royal, Mortimer, Grammy-winner Kabaka Pyramid, and Capleton. Samory's career has been on the rise in recent years after his collaborative album 'Black Gold' (2017) with Jamaican producer Rory "Stonelove" Gilligan, which helped make Samory a household name in the reggae world. The breakout single "Rasta Nuh Gangsta" from this rich opus of conscious Rastafarian declarations has over 10 million views on YouTube alone. Since then, Samory I has landed features on two Grammy-nominated reggae albums, including Jesse Royal's Royal (2021) for their collaboration "High Tide or Low," and Protoje's album 'Third Time's The Charm' (2022) for the closing track "Heavy Load." In 2022, Samory I released "Life Is Amazing" feat. dancehall star Chi Ching Ching and "Love and Mercy'' off the 'Gratitude' Riddim EP (produced by Winta James), which became one of his most streamed tracks to date. -
Vinyl LP pressing. Samory I, one of Jamaica's most promising reggae artists to watch, releases his eagerly-awaited solo debut album Strength.
"Strength" is a powerful LP by roots reggae vocalist Samory I, released on vinyl and presented by renowned independent label Easy Star. Across this album, Samory I delivers spiritually charged, socially conscious songs carried by a rich, organic roots sound, deep basslines and warm analog production. His voice moves effortlessly between meditative, prayerful passages and explosive, soulful choruses, creating a listening experience that feels both reflective and uplifting. The LP format underlines the album's classic character: carefully sequenced sides, dynamic arrangements and a sound that invites you to listen from beginning to end instead of skipping between tracks. Lyrically, "Strength" revolves around themes of resilience, faith, resistance against injustice and inner empowerment, making it a record that speaks to both the heart and the mind.

Samory I is one of the most striking modern voices in contemporary roots reggae. Emerging from Jamaica's vibrant scene, he first attracted international attention with spiritually grounded singles and a distinctive vocal timbre that recalls golden-era roots while sounding entirely his own. His breakthrough came through collaborations and releases that resonated strongly with reggae audiences worldwide, allowing him to perform on important stages and festivals and to establish himself as a key figure of the current roots renaissance. Known for his intense live presence and the emotional depth of his songwriting, he has gained a loyal following among listeners seeking conscious, message-driven music.

The LP "Strength" benefits from a musical framework that favors live instrumentation, space, and groove. Classic drum-and-bass foundations, shimmering guitars, horns and tasteful keyboard lines create a timeless sonic bed for Samory I's vocals. The production emphasizes warmth and clarity rather than over-processing, so the record sounds full and detailed on a hi-fi system while still retaining the raw edge that is so important to roots reggae. From meditative, slower rhythms to more driving steppers grooves, the album offers a varied yet coherent journey that invites repeated, attentive listening and rewards those who appreciate detailed arrangements and heartfelt performances.
