| Description: | Reissued 1964 album, ’Burning Hell’ includes one of John Lee Hooker’s lesser known gems from his most inspired years. ’Burning Hell’ is quite different from his earlier recordings, most of which had featured Hooker on an electric guitar with his trademark reverb and stomping foot. In addition to the original masterpiece, this remastered collector’s edition also contains 8 bonus tracks, including a number of solo recordings taped in different locations between 1952 and 1961. - Burning Hell was recorded in 1959 in Detroit but wasn't released until 1964 on Riverside Records. Even then, it was only available in Europe. The album features John Lee Hooker solo as he plays originals and classics. AllMusic states that, on this album, "Hooker shows himself to be an excellent interpreter who could have held his own with Delta bluesmen of any era."Part of the Bluesville / Acoustic Sounds Series. Red Book CD version, same mastering as the Bluesville / Acoustic Sounds Series 2024 180 g release."Burning Hell (Bluesville Acoustic Sounds Series)" is a remarkable CD release by the legendary blues artist John Lee Hooker, presented by Concord Records. This album captures Hooker's raw and powerful acoustic performances, showcasing his deep-rooted Delta blues style with authenticity and soul. The Bluesville Acoustic Sounds Series aims to preserve classic recordings with superior sound quality for modern listeners. Concord Records is renowned for its dedication to high-fidelity releases across jazz, blues, and contemporary genres, consistently delivering music that honors both artists' legacies and audiophile standards.
