| Description: | 2024 release. The album is Frost* at it's most ambitious, offering nearly 90 minutes of music over 14 exquisite tracks. The album is the brainchild of Godfrey who was inspired to create the conceptual world for the album based on the group's previous release Day and Age (2021). Fans of the band's masterful debut album Milliontown (2006) will enjoy the band revisiting the style that made that debut album one of the most successful prog rock albums of the last 20 years, a fact that was not lost on Godfrey as he was writing this new record. "With Day and Age, we made it a very specific point: we're not doing any solos, we'll do clever arrangements. And we enjoyed that discipline, but this time I thought it might be good to row back on that position a bit. Plus I wanted to have a little bit of a nod to Milliontown with this album, because it's been nearly 20 years since Milliontown came out and I'm still proud of it. The 15-minute title track has a few of those Milliontown moments in it which were great fun to do again."Jewel case edition"Life In The Wires" is a CD release by Frost that captures the band's affinity for intricate arrangements, atmospheric soundscapes and emotionally charged songwriting. Across the album, Frost blend powerful riffs with cinematic keyboards and dynamic rhythm work, creating songs that move between finely detailed, almost fragile passages and expansive, high-energy climaxes. The production is clear and spacious, allowing the interplay of guitars, drums, bass and keys to shine, while the vocals add a strong melodic thread that ties the tracks together. "Life In The Wires" feels like a conceptually cohesive journey, with recurring musical themes and a consistent mood that invites repeated listening, whether you focus on the technical finesse or simply let the atmosphere carry you.
Frost have built a reputation as a band that bridges the gap between accessible hooks and sophisticated, progressive structures. In their previous work they have impressed critics and fans alike with multi-layered compositions, precise musicianship and a flair for memorable choruses that stay with the listener. The group's evolution has been marked by constantly refining their sound while remaining true to their roots: modern, ambitious rock music with a strong sense of drama and melody. This background informs "Life In The Wires", which presents Frost as a mature, confident act that knows how to balance complexity with immediacy.
The CD format underlines the album's character as a complete, carefully sequenced work. The track order is designed to guide the listener through different emotional and stylistic terrains, from quieter, reflective moments to powerful, driving sections that showcase the band's energy. Audiophiles and dedicated fans will appreciate the CD's sound quality, the clear separation of instruments and the dynamic range that allows the quieter nuances and the louder peaks to unfold in full.
