ROBERT MILES

Robert Miles, born Roberto Concina, was an Italian DJ, record producer, and composer. He was active in the music industry during the mid-1990s, and his music had a significant impact on the electronic music scene that defined the decade. Miles was best known for his hit song "Children," which sold 5 million copies and topped the charts in 12 countries. Robert Miles was born in Fleurier, Switzerland in 1969 to Italian parents. After his parents' divorce, he moved to Italy with his mother and began his music career by playing piano in local clubs. In 1990, he started DJing at a club in Rimini, and in 1994, he released his first single, "Red Zone." Miles gained international fame with his record “Children,” which he produced in 1995. The song quickly rose to the top of the charts and became a dance music classic. It is considered to be the biggest club hit of the second half of the 1990s. The success of "Children" put Miles on the map as a leading name in the electronic dance music scene. His debut album "Dreamland" released in 1996, received immense critical acclaim around the globe. "Fable" and "One and One" were other smash hits from the album. Miles continued his success with the second album, "23am," which released in 1997. The album was more experimental with a mix of ambient, world music, and trip-hop influences. It delivered classics like "Freedom," and "Paths." Miles was known for his dedication to understanding music production and his explorative spirit. He was an accomplished musician who played several instruments, creating music that was both emotive and experimental. His music had the ability to bring people together on dance floors and in concert halls worldwide. Despite his success, Miles remained grounded and humble throughout his career. He remained committed to his roots in Italy and shared his knowledge of music in various aspects with young talents. Sadly, Miles passed away on May 9, 2017, due to metastatic cancer. However, his contributions to the music world continue to influence dance music producers to this day. Miles forever changed the musical landscape and remains a legendary figure in electronic music. In conclusion, Robert Miles never failed to amaze the world with his breakthrough style and thought-provoking music production. His influence in the electronic genre of music has left an ever-lasting impression and continues to shine even to this day. His music will continue to inspire upcoming musicians and will always be cherished amongst his fans.
