Description:
Digitally remastered and expanded edition. A hugely successful, award-winning songwriter, singer and musician, BA Robertson enjoyed his most commercially successful period while signed to Asylum Records in the late '70s and early '80s.. During that period, BA was rarely out of the charts with hit singles. Amazingly, BA's Asylum recordings have never officially been reissued on CD - until now!. Compiled by the artist himself with remastered sound, new sleeve-notes by Eddie Harrison and each reissue boasting numerous bonus tracks, BA's Asylum albums have finally been treated to the reissue programme they deserve. R&BA was the third and final BA album for Asylum. First issued in 1982, it spawned a hit collaboration with fellow Scot Maggie Bell, 'Hold Me', alongside two further singles, 'Dot Dot Dot' and 'Ready Or Not. Among the wealth of bonus tracks are three non-album B-sides, a demo for BA's theme tune for TV show Saturday Superstore, a demo for the album highlight 'Legislate For Love', a rare German version of BA's first hit 'Bang Bang' and two tracks from a rare live performance by BA at Edinburgh Festival in 2004.
"R& BA (Remastered+Expanded Edition)" on CD by BA Robertson is a lovingly curated reissue of one of his key albums, presenting his sharp, melodic pop songwriting in renewed sonic clarity. This edition offers a freshly remastered sound that brings out the warmth of the arrangements, the punch of the rhythm section and the character of Robertson's distinctive voice. The expanded format typically features additional material such as bonus tracks, single edits or rare versions, making this release particularly attractive for collectors and long-time admirers, as well as new listeners who want a comprehensive introduction to this era of his work. The result is a CD that captures the wit, craft and pop sensibility that made BA Robertson a notable figure in the late-70s and early-80s British pop landscape.
BA Robertson is best known as a Scottish singer-songwriter who achieved a string of chart hits in the UK and beyond, especially in the early 1980s. His music is characterised by clever lyrics, strong hooks and a playful yet sophisticated pop-rock feel. Beyond his work as a recording artist, he has also written for others and contributed to the wider entertainment industry, which has cemented his reputation as a versatile creative talent. A concise artist bio would highlight his success as a hitmaker during the new wave and pop boom, his memorable singles that received significant radio and TV exposure, and his enduring status as a cult favourite among fans of classic British pop.
The CD is released by Cherry Red, a long-established British independent label renowned for high-quality reissues, archival projects and carefully compiled catalogue editions. With this "Remastered+Expanded Edition", Cherry Red once again demonstrates its specialty: breathing new life into classic albums, presenting them with improved sound, thoughtful packaging and often in-depth liner notes that contextualise the original release.
