Description:This re-issue of the Spooky Tooth's second album replicates the original 1969 Island Records UK release and is pressed onto heavyweight 180g vinyl housed in a gatefold sleeve. Released in March 1969, Spooky Two was heavier and less quirky than the group's debut. If a listener needs to understand what Spooky Tooth were about, they should revel in the mastery of their version of Larry Weiss' Evil Woman (the only non-original on the album) which had been covered by Guy Darrell and the Troggs before the group came to record it. A heavy, nine-minute blues, it established Luther Grosvenor (later to be 'Ariel Bender' in Mott The Hoople) as one of the great British guitarists of his era. Of the originals, Gary Wright was establishing himself as the group's main writer hear the Cream-inspired drama of Lost In My Dream and the storming Better By You, Better Than Me, which was later to be covered infamously by Judas Priest. Mike Harrison's voice is on fine, fine form throughout. Spooky Two is one of THE great British rock records of the late 60s. -

"Spooky Two" is widely regarded as the creative peak of British rock band Spooky Tooth and one of the most atmospheric rock albums of the late 1960s. Released at the crossroads of psychedelic rock, blues and early hard rock, this LP offers intense songs driven by powerful vocals, soulful keyboards and a dark, haunting mood that fully justifies its title. With its organic band interplay and dynamic arrangements, "Spooky Two" has become a cult favourite among collectors and connoisseurs of classic rock.

Musically, the album impresses with a blend of heavy, riff-oriented passages, bluesy grooves and melancholic, almost spiritual moments. Extended song structures and richly textured organ sounds create a dense soundscape that still feels remarkably fresh today. The LP format underlines the character of the record as a coherent journey: the tracks are arranged in a way that lets you sink into the mood, from the gripping opener to the more introspective pieces on the second side. Audiophiles appreciate "Spooky Two" for its warm, analogue sound, which unfolds particularly well on vinyl.

Spooky Tooth count among the underrated but highly influential bands of the British rock scene. Formed in the late 1960s, they became known for their powerful vocals, keyboard-driven sound and an expressive mixture of rock, blues and psychedelia. While they never achieved the mainstream fame of some of their contemporaries, Spooky Tooth built a loyal following and influenced musicians in hard rock and progressive rock circles. "Spooky Two" in particular is often cited by fans and critics as their most important and artistically rounded work.

The manufacturer Proper is known for carefully curated reissues and high-quality catalogue releases, with particular attention to classic and heritage artists.
