STREETMARK

Streetmark is a German progressive rock band that formed in Munich in the early 1970s. The band played an influential role in the development of the German krautrock scene and is considered one of the most important groups from the genre. The band was founded by guitarist and keyboardist Thomas Schreiber, bassist Georg Buschmann, and drummer Hans Schweiß as a power trio. They recruited Sydney-born Steve Robinson as the lead vocalist of the band. In their early years, Streetmark played a mix of hard rock, funk, and jazz, which earned them a loyal following in Germany. Their debut album, "Nordland," was released in 1976 and showcased the band's unique blend of styles. The album was produced by legendary producer Conny Plank, who had worked with the likes of Kraftwerk and Neu!. "Nordland" features progressive rock tracks such as "Dreams" and "Lovers," as well as funk-inspired songs like "Lollipop." Streetmark's second album, "Eileen," was released in 1977 and made it clear that the band was moving towards a more prog-rock sound. The album contains epic tracks such as "Eileen" and "Tempus Fugit," as well as the funky "Midnight" and the psychedelic "Rainy Days." Streetmark's third album, "Dry," was released in 1979 and featured the addition of keyboard player Thomas Leidenberger. The album is a concept album about the agony of addiction and features tracks such as "Drama," "Waves," and "Addiction." In 1980, Streetmark released their fourth album, "Sky Racer," which is considered one of the band's best works. The album is a creative and adventurous mix of different styles, featuring songs such as "Sky Racer," "Beamship," and "Lovers." The band's fifth album, "Eileen II," was released in 1981 and featured the return of Robinson as the lead vocalist. The album features some of the band's most memorable tracks, such as "Adress Unknown" and "Marie." Streetmark disbanded in 1983 after releasing their sixth and final album, "Wolkenreise." The album is a mix of different styles, ranging from pop songs like "Children's World" to epic prog-rock tracks like "Wolkenreise." In conclusion, Streetmark was a highly influential and innovative band from Germany's krautrock scene. Their unique blend of different styles and their artistic approach to music helped to shape the sound of progressive rock in the 1970s and beyond. While the band is no longer active, their music continues to be celebrated and appreciated by fans of progressive rock worldwide.
