Made in USAThe self-titled debut album "This Heat" on CD captures the radical, genre-defying spirit of the British experimental band This Heat at their most uncompromising. Originally recorded in the late 1970s, the album fuses post-punk energy with tape experimentation, noise, avant-rock and an almost cinematic sense of tension and atmosphere. Angular guitar lines, fragmented song structures, stark rhythms and eerie sound collages create a dense, unsettling listening experience that still sounds strikingly modern. This CD edition presents the album as a cohesive, immersive work, inviting focused listening from beginning to end rather than casual background play.
Musically, "This Heat" is driven by sharp contrasts: brittle, minimalist passages erupt into explosive noise; repetitive, almost mechanical grooves give way to abstract textures; hushed, intimate moments are suddenly cut by harsh feedback and tape manipulation. The band plays with dynamics, space and repetition, building a unique sound world that bridges art-rock, early industrial aesthetics and experimental electronics. Rather than conventional hooks, the album offers a gripping narrative arc shaped through mood, texture and intensity, making it a landmark for listeners interested in adventurous rock, post-punk history and the roots of experimental music.
This Heat were a pioneering London band active mainly at the end of the 1970s and early 1980s, known for their uncompromising approach and their influential, forward-looking sound. Although their discography is relatively small, records like "This Heat" and "Deceit" have gained enduring cult status and are often cited as important reference points for post-punk, experimental rock, post-rock and noise artists. The group's meticulous studio work, fearless use of tape loops and found sounds, and their intense live performances made them one of the most respected and studied bands in the experimental underground.
The CD is released by Rer, a label renowned in specialist circles for its dedication to adventurous, non-commercial music. Rer has long been associated with experimental rock, avant-garde and boundary-pushing artists, providing a home for releases that fall outside mainstream trends. With great care for catalog curation, long-term availability and high-quality editions, Rer has helped preserve and reintroduce historically important recordings like "This Heat" to new generations of listeners. Their commitment to artistic freedom and uncompromising sounds makes this CD edition particularly attractive to collectors and fans of experimental music. | | | No. of tracks: |

Tae-Woong U. - 25/Oct/2020 A colorful spectrum that cannot only be defined by post punk.
The second album, _Deceit_, conducts research on primitive senses and specifically asks the boundaries of rock music, while this self-titled album floats in the realm of abstraction. The boundaries are not important here.
The names of Krautrock music represented by Can, Faust, and Neu!, Industrial such as Throbbing Gristle and Coil, and 20th century contemporary music, such as Xenakis, are gathered here.
There may be debate about what their best work is, but I would be willing to side with _This Heat_.
