"Talking Book" on CD is one of Stevie Wonder's most acclaimed albums and a landmark of 1970s soul, funk, and R&B, released on the legendary Motown label. Across its tracks, Wonder combines richly textured arrangements, expressive vocals, and innovative use of keyboards and synthesizers to create an intimate yet expansive listening experience. The album's sound moves effortlessly between tender ballads and rhythmically driven songs, all tied together by Wonder's distinctive sense of melody and emotional depth. Listeners will find a cohesive work that rewards both casual enjoyment and attentive, focused listening.

As a recording, the CD format of "Talking Book" offers clear, detailed sound that highlights the nuances of Wonder's voice, the interplay of instruments, and the warm, analog-inspired production typical of early-'70s soul. The sequencing of the songs contributes to a strong narrative flow, giving the album the feeling of a complete musical journey rather than just a collection of tracks. The lyrical themes touch on love, vulnerability, self-reflection, and social awareness, making the album both personal and universal. Its blend of timeless songwriting and rich sonic character has helped "Talking Book" maintain its status as an essential title in any serious music collection.

Stevie Wonder is one of the most influential and successful artists in popular music, known for reshaping soul and R&B with his songwriting, vocal power, and instrumental versatility. Emerging as a prodigy in the 1960s, he evolved into a pioneering album artist in the 1970s, creating a string of critically lauded, commercially successful records for Motown. Over his career he has earned numerous major music awards and global recognition, and many of his songs have become enduring standards covered by artists across genres and generations. Wonder's work, including "Talking Book," has been repeatedly cited as a cornerstone for later developments in soul, pop, and contemporary R&B.

Motown, the manufacturer and label behind this CD, is one of the most important names in music history. Founded in Detroit, the company played a central role in bringing African American music to mainstream global audiences and developing the signature "Motown Sound" that blended pop sophistication with soul and R&B roots. Over the decades, Motown has been home to a remarkable roster of iconic artists and has consistently been associated with high production values, memorable songwriting, and broad appeal. The label's legacy continues to shape how popular music is produced, marketed, and experienced, and releases like Stevie Wonder's "Talking Book" stand as key examples of Motown's enduring impact.

Ivica S. - 21/Feb/2021 5 of 5 Stars!
It was the first album I fell in love with as a 15 year old kid when it came out, and if it's not my all-time fave still, it's right near the top. It has everything. STEVIE WONDER forever...
