When released on Halloween 1996, Frank Zappa Plays The Music Of Frank Zappa, A Memorial Tribute was considered to be an Audio Tombstone by the family. It features the three signature guitar pieces: "Black Napkins," "Zoot Allures" and "Watermelon In Easter Hay" in their original released form (remastered) with added live versions that predate the issued masters. Also included is "Merely A Blues In A: from Paris '74. A fitting "Memorial Tribute" indeedOfficial Release #66.

This release's aim was to explore Frank Zappa's self-professed 'signature' guitar pieces - "Black Napkins", "Zoot Allures" and "Watermelon in Easter Hay" - by juxapositioning alternate, early recordings of these tracks against the original album versions. "Merely a Blues In A" is, effectively, a previously unreleased track.

Track 6: Live recording - city and specific date unknown, January or February 1978.

Packaging: six-panel black imitation leather Digipak with a fake stick-on mustache; the silver letters are printed on brilliant embossed black. Includes a 12-page booklet.
First pressings don't have the stickered barcode.
